We started playing around with probability in workshop today using “Clear the Board ” to investigate sums of dice. Initially, students played with one block on each possible sum. After a couple rounds and some time to make observations, the bottom pic shows three students’ arrangements when they were allowed to position their 11 blocks in any way which they thought would help them clear their board more quickly. The two students who had stacked all their blocks on one sum (one picked 7, the other chose 8) were pretty bummed when reminded of the rule which states you can only remove ONE block each roll.
