Day 84–Using the area model to study multiplying fractions. It was eye-opening for some who have memorized that all you have to do is “multiply straight across” to figure out why it actually works that way.
Day 85–Building “Gingerbread” Houses. Its nice that all three grade levels have standards related to surface area and/or volume. It gives us an opportunity to incorporate some art into math class in these last 2 weeks before break.
