Not the best pic today. A short Wednesday period and talkative students made it hard to introduce a new game and actually get time to play “Shape Capture,” but it’s a fun game for practicing graphing. And somewhere in my file cabinet, I’ve got an adaptation incorporating area–thanks to collaboration with my colleague, Sadie Estrella, a couple of years ago. 🙂
Here’s the link to the game which is sort of Battleship style. Each student plots 4 points to create a quadrilateral. Then they take turns guessing points–trying to determine the vertices and shape plotted by their opponent. The different marks tell if the point guessed is on a vertex, the perimeter, inside, or outside of the figure graphed by your opponent.
