Day 19–It’s Just Like a Ruler

image It’s been a while, but I love having 6th grade math AND science in my line this year.  We talked about measuring volume with graduated cylinders today and how to read the graduated marks on each one.  Someone shared, “It’s just like a ruler!”  Their observation was helpful to so many other students as we started to discuss what the marks between numbers represented.  I’m eager now to find further ways to use this connection to address math standards–after all, it looks an awful lot like a number line too.
