Day 18–Pi = 22/7 ?

Had a great discussion in class regarding pi and whether it is a rational or irrational number.  Two students in particular recalled their reference sheet and quickly pulled it out to convince the rest of us that pi was rational and could be written as a rational number in the form of a/b–it’s printed right there.  We did some dividing to examine the repeating digits, talked about the importance of the symbol ≈ , and why we use an approximation for pi.  I love it when my students argue math with me!
