After reading Christopher Danielson’s post last week, I wanted to try the new idea I saw in the first video. I coaxed my students into trying this new “pair match” concept in our circle today instead of student counting circle. Now with anything that is new it takes them a while to get used to however there were some students that just didn’t want to open their minds to something new! I had to discuss with them about why it’s “Hard” and that when we learn something new should it be easy, etc. etc. They came around after our second try and some of them were really trying to come up with hard numbers! I have to mention that fractions were never discussed or mentioned by me. They came up with it on their own! *beaming* 🙂
P.S. Today gave other students a chance to share new ideas and we got to see more strategies come forth.
