Day 84: You’ve got to LOVE “What if questions…”

2013-01-28_1520130128_113251

We are attempting to “summarize” (inductive reasoning) from our specific slope changes observations (using @desmos sliders).  As we were discussing a student asks “Can the line cross the y-axis twice?” “What if the line was straight up and down just like the y-axis?”  My response: “Yes the line can cross the y-axis twice but it would non-linear and we will discuss those soon enough and I was planning to discuss a vertical line slope later but since you asked let’s look at it now”  I did mention that these are more memorized but they saw some logic in x=0 and y=0 because I heard “Well no matter what y is then x=0 is always going to be on y-axis.”
