How to use 1 representation to get the other 3 representations. I missed the picture opportunity today when we discussed the order in which THEY chose to figure out the 3 other representations for themselves. Many of them had good reasons for the order they chose. They also realized that the order would depend on the person and they acknowledged what was hardest and easiest for each other. Tonight’s homework is to rank how they would figure out the 3 other representations given the equation. This is the way I am going to teach linear equations. I will be focusing mostly on relationships and multiple representations and strategies more than on just teaching how to “calculate the slope given 2 points on the graph” I am going for a loaded toolbelt for my students instead of them trying to past a test!
